Register a Domain Name
When you set up a website you will want a memorable and short URL. Long names
like http://www.domain.net/ directory/%7eflowers34/ directory/file.html
are only going to confuse potential visitors. On the other hand, a simple URL like
http://www.flowers.com/ is memorable and hard to mis-type.
While domain names aren't free, they're not that expensive and fairly straight-forward to setup. The Top Level Domain registration authority for .com, .net, and .org TLDs is ICANN. Some counties, like Tonga, are now offering domains names to anyone who wants one, for a fee of course. A domain name usually costs around $10 USD a year.
